Sativa Selects, stylized as SativaSlcts, is a DJ who I met about 4 years ago in Charlotte, NC-we were both into radio broadcasting when we crossed paths. Sativa has been married to music her whole life, starting out in music journalism around 2012 with it being trial and error since then. After a challenging 2016, she took this year by the horns and persevered into reclaiming her time by DJing in different cities and much more. Her taste in music is very similar to mine as she blends hip-hop with experimental and house. For her Dazzle The Mix she pulls vibes from Destiny’s Child, Kari Faux, IAMDDB, Tom Misch, Lyzza, Migos and more. It seems like a random mix of artists but Sativa blends them all together so cohesively to make it hype yet groovy and ethereal. Ultimately, the mix is something everyone can listen to and enjoy. My favorite track on the list is the Joneses and Simon SMTHNG edit of Ashanti’s “Foolish” entitled “Running.” I know without a doubt Sativa will put you on to some newness below as she drops this quote about DJing:
